Stitch 'n Beach 2008

Grab your knitting buddies and hit the high seas on this luxurious knitting cruise aboard Holland America's Noordam to the sparkling islands of the Carribbean. Featuring over 24 hours of knitting classes, workshops, and private evening events, you'll always have something fun to do on board.

Your vacation starts the moment you board the elegant ship on Wednesday afternoon in New York City. As we sail past the Statue of Liberty, we’ll gather on deck for a Sail Away party. Dinner and a trunk show, where you’ll also receive a Stitch ‘n Beach goodie bag, top off the evening’s activities. Over the next ten days, as we visit the sunny islands of the Caribbean, you’ll be able to take knitting classes in a variety of subjects, and attend special evening Stitch ‘n Bitch sessions. Take as many or as few classes as you wish—your price includes all classes and all materials.

When we arrive in port, explore our exotic destinations—Grand Turk, Tortola, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and San Juan, Puerto Rico—on your own, sign up for any number of shore excursions such as shopping trips, snorkeling, nature hikes, and bike rides, or just hit the beach and relax.

Back on board the ship, there will be more knitting classes on offer, or indulge yourself at the spa, take a cooking lesson at the on-board Culinary Arts Center, check your email at the Explorations Cafe, sip a cocktail by the pool, or take your latest project with you out on the deck and knit as you watch the world sail by. On Monday morning when we get back to New York, you'll arrive rested and refreshed, with a lot more knitting knowledge and most likely a few new friends as well.

GRAND TURK, TURKS & CAICOS
Named for the fez-like scarlet blossoms of the cactus that grows here, Grand Turk is a pristine paradise of simple pleasures. Just offshore discover the world's largest coral reef system teeming with marine life. TORTOLA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLAND
Spanish for "Land of the Turtle Dove," Tortola has something for everyone: rugged mountain peaks and primeval rainforest, lush grottos, powdery white-sand beaches, centuries old forts and Road Town's Main Street shopping district. Explore the island and shopping district on your own, or sign up for one of the many available shore excursions, including Forest Hike & Beach; Tortola Dolphin Swim; Virgin Gourda & The Baths.
PHILIPSBURG, ST. MAARTEN
An island under two flags. On the Dutch side: chocolates, cheeses and casinos. On the French side: bistros, boulangeries and boutiques. SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO
Founded in 1521 by Juan Ponce de Leon, San Juan is the second oldest city in the Americas. Characterized by unique blue cobblestones and centuries old Spanish architecture, San Juan also offers upscale shops, casinos and world-class beaches. Sample shore excursions: El Yunque Rain Forest Drive or Day Hike; World Heritage Fortress & Art Museum.

We have a limited number of staterooms reserved for this Stitch 'n Beach cruise at a special group rate on a first-come, first-served basis. Space will be confirmed with a $600.00 per person deposit. Prices are based on double occupancy, but single, triple and quad stateroom fares are available on request. Travelling alone? We can try to match you up with another Stitch 'n Beacher if you're looking to share a room.
